    Thank you for the reply. You are amazing Barb, YOU are wonderful! :)

    @Jannetf88 You’ve got a smart dog and you’re doing a great job cooking for her. Hopefully, you’re striking a balance of protein 30-35%, veggies 10-20% and carbs 45-55 %. All three are essential for a healthy dog. Your food choices (including the egg) are good. My only advice is stay away from white potatoes as they turn into sugar once digested. Sweet potatoes (yellow on the inside, not orange yams) are an excellent alternative of carb nutrition. Keep up the good work. You’re wonderul.

    Oh, in addition to my last comment I also add pasta or brown rice!

    Hi, if you could please respond I would appreciate it so much. I just started cooking for my dog about a month ago and wanted some advice, tips, etc. She is a 2 yr old toy poodle, she used to it ziwi peak but stopped wanting it so now I cook her ground meat (neef, chicken, or turkey) mixed with veggies (carrots, peas, grean beans, etc) and sonetimes add diced potato (no skin), or a boiled egg..is this good for her? She loves it but I want to know if its healthy enough…thanks in advance

    @agneslim7979 Avoid corn and nightshades like mushrooms, eggplant and tomato. You’ll know from your dog’s stool, if it’s firm and healthy, when he’s tolerating the veggies well and then you can add about 10% to 20% to his diet a day. The health benefits will amaze you. P.S. If your dog is diabetic stay away from veggies high in sugar like carrots and beets.

    @agneslim7979 Sorry to take so long getting back to you. Yes, flax seeds should always be ground. You can buy them that way or use a clean coffee grinder to grind them. Veggies are an important part of our dog’s diet because they supply natural vitamins and minerals that enhance our dog’s health. But start your dog on very small portions of veggies. Some are good raw (I grate mine) like carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, parsnips and others should be steamed like broccoli and asparagus.

    @ladysmithrose I’m so sorry for your dog’s experience with raw food. Good in theory, but in reality, too many pitfalls for my satisfaction. Lucky your dogs love veggies and fruit (so many natural vitamins and minerals) and even more fortunate – they have YOU to feed them. Don’t you feel sorry for dogs who live their whole lives eating only kibble?!

  8. DogGoneGoodTV says:

    @ladysmithrose You’re right never to use human toothpaste on your dogs, but check the chemicals in the doggie toothpaste before you use it again. I’ve learned to avoid chemicals whenever possible. So many are toxic for our dogs over an extended period of time. I brush my dog’s teeth with their own child’s toothbrush and filtered water. It works really well if you’re conscientious and you sound extremely conscientious!

    @Thily1234 Yes, I have many, many more recipes that I’m organizing for a book and other media. I’ll let you know about those a.s.a.p. In the meantime, there’s a GREAT vet book I recommend for a lot of reasons, and one is for the recipes. The book is “Natural Health For Dogs And Cats,” by Richard Pitcairn, DVM, PhD. So glad you’re interested!

    I fully agree with you on not feeding your dogs raw food ,,,,I did that with my two dogs both got very ill , one recovered the other one we had to rush to the vet she was vomiting blood ,Was from the raw meat .I cook all their foods now ,Do give them raw carrots and veggies at times.They both love veggies.Big time with Papaya without the seeds ,l’m circled when I cut one of those open lol both love papaya alot.

    Hi Barbara, I was just wondering if you think veggies would be safe to eat for a dog that’s already used to eating dog food and meat only. Would it be a too drastic change in diet? And did you grind the flax seeds? I’ve heard that you need to grind them in order to properly digest them or something. Nice video and thanks for sharing your recipes and tips!

    @jonasiha
    Great question and an important one! Chicken should always be BONELESS because chicken bones splinter and can get stuck in your dog’s throat or digestive track which can be very painful and sometimes fatal.

  20. jonasiha says:

    Hi Barara, are the chicken legs boneless or with bones?
